芝加哥大學(xué)（The University of Chicago），是一所位于美國伊利諾伊州芝加哥的私立、男女同校、無宗教派別的研究型大學(xué)，1890年由約翰·洛克菲勒創(chuàng)辦，在1892年10月1日正式開課。芝加哥大學(xué)是美國最富盛名的大學(xué)之一，共有89位獲得諾貝爾獎得主在此工作或?qū)W習(xí)。那么，芝加哥大學(xué)的轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)和轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)分政策有什么特別之處？錄取難度大不大？對國際生有哪些要求？
芝加哥大學(xué)轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)政策
首先，什么樣的學(xué)生被認為是轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)生呢？所有入讀大學(xué)學(xué)位課程一學(xué)期或以上的學(xué)生，都是轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)生，都要按轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)生申請 （The University of Chicago considers you a transfer applicant if you have completed one term as a full-time student in a degree-seeking program at another college or university）。
所有轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)生都至少要在Chicago讀兩年（6個quarters），完成核心課程和至少一半的專業(yè)課（Transfer students must attend the College for at least two academic years (six quarters) and complete the Core curriculum and at least half of their major with us?）。轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)生只接受秋季入學(xué)。而且國際轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)生是沒有獎學(xué)金的。
芝加哥大學(xué)轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)分政策
轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)生必須在Chicago入讀至少六個quarters，可以全職或兼職，并至少要完成18門課程。
在芝加哥大學(xué)，并不是所有的課程都可以轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)分。在兩年制（相當(dāng)于國內(nèi)的大專）或四年制的大學(xué)，至少學(xué)習(xí)三個學(xué)期或四個季度的文科課程，并獲得C以上的分數(shù)（特殊情況下要求B以上的分數(shù)）都是可以轉(zhuǎn)的（Liberal arts courses carrying at least three semester hours or four quarter hours of credit and passed with a grade of C or better (in some cases, a grade of B or better is required) from an accredited two- or four-year institution）。AP課程分數(shù)在4或5可轉(zhuǎn)，但不包括 CLEP, USAFI等相關(guān)課程。
初級微積分，微積分和外語，這些課程可否轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)分還要看學(xué)生具體情況。如學(xué)生的專業(yè)，課程的等級，化學(xué)物理和生物的學(xué)分有時候還要根據(jù)考試來定。專業(yè)或技術(shù)課程不可轉(zhuǎn)，如新聞、商業(yè)、法律、音樂演出、演講、護理等。只有和學(xué)校開設(shè)的課程相似的才可以轉(zhuǎn)。學(xué)生在Chicago畢業(yè)后，成績單上只顯示可轉(zhuǎn)的學(xué)分（Upon graduation from the University of Chicago, transfer credits are listed on the student’s University of Chicago tran only as the number of credits approved for transfer.），不顯示課程名字和分數(shù)。
芝加哥大學(xué)申請要求
芝加哥大學(xué)只接受秋季轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)，截止日期為3月1號，學(xué)校會根據(jù)申請人數(shù)的多少擇優(yōu)錄取，錄取結(jié)果通常為5月份，學(xué)生回復(fù)及交押金的日期是6-1。申請費為75美金。學(xué)生申請需要提交SAT分數(shù)，但不要求SAT Subject, 如果有sub更好，可以作為補充材料提交。GPA通常要求3.5以上。
國際生托福分數(shù)要求最低100分。在美國高中或大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)兩年以上可以免考，但是不包括語言課程（The only exceptions are for applicants who for two or more years have attended a high school or college in the U.S. UChicago does not offer an ESL program for admitted students）。
芝加哥大學(xué)錄取難度
芝加哥大學(xué)轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)生錄取難度是非常大的，錄取率很低，往年所有國際生總數(shù)一般才為3—4個，今年2015年擴招了，在中國一共招了5個轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)生（We admitted a very small number of transfer students this year; I don't have the exact numbers handy but my estimate is that we admitted approximately 5 students from China （both currently studying in China and students who are from China but currently study in the US）。
